Address checklist · Updated practical checklist
A readable address helps postal staff identify the destination and reduces avoidable delivery confusion. Before booking a parcel, prepare the sender and recipient details clearly.
What to write on the parcel
- Recipient name and house or building number
- Street, locality, village or post office details
- City or district, state and six-digit PIN code
- A working contact number where requested
- Sender name and complete return address
Before handing it over
Match the PIN code with the destination locality using India Post’s official tools. Write the address on a flat, visible surface and keep the booking receipt.
Important note
A correct address does not guarantee a delivery date. Service availability and delivery conditions depend on the destination and the product booked.
